The complete (how to) deal with unsolicited dick pics

The complete (how to) deal with unsolicited dick pics

You’ve barely exchanged two “hey wyd” texts, and boom - day 2, and you’re hit with a surprise guest. Not a cute dog pic. Not a meme. A full-on, uninvited, aggressively pixelated penis. Just… there. Like a pop-up ad you really didn’t ask for - except instead of 50% off pizza, it’s 100% some dude’s junk.

We’ve all been there. That moment of pure, soul-crushing disgust where you wonder: Did I accidentally subscribe to Balls Weekly? What the hell is even happening?!?!

Why Do Men Send Unsolicited Dick Pics?

You’ve probably already asked yourself: In what universe does this even work? Is there a secret society of people out there saying, “Omg! A blurry close-up of his poorly lit shaft? My heart’s jumping out of my chest!”

According to research (and common sense, or the lack of it), men send unsolicited dick pics for a few reasons:

  1. Validation: Some guys are out here treating their dicks like LinkedIn endorsements, hoping for a “Nice!” or a “Wow, big moves” in response. They’re looking for reassurance about size, shape, or overall aesthetics.

  2. Power & Shock Value: Sending an unwanted dick pic is digital flashing. It’s about control, getting a reaction - whether that’s disgust, anger, or shock. Seriously, men are following the funda of ‘bad publicity is still publicity’.

  3. A Numbers Game: Some men see this as a lottery. If they send enough, maybe, just maybe, one woman will reply positively. (Spoiler: The odds are not in their favor.)
  4. Delusion: Some genuinely believe that their exclusive member-only content will turn you on. Apparently, the words “hi” or “how’s your day?” were just too difficult to type.

The common denominator? Male entitlement. Somewhere along the way, these men convinced themselves that their genitals were a gift to the world. A blessing. A visual appetizer for the main course they assume you want.

How to Respond Like an Absolute Girl Boss

I knew that my girls would be no less in dealing with thick heads. So, I went around the internet - Reddit and Quora and other places to compile the ultimate fire responses to put them back in their place.

The Savage Burns:

  • “Oh no, I thought this was your thumb.”

  • “Wait, why’d you send me a photo of a baby carrot?”

  • “I’ve never seen one shaped like that before. Are you okay?”

  • “You should get that checked out.”

  • “Does your mama know you send this to women on the internet?”

  • Send a GIF of someone dramatically vomiting - honestly, it’s anyway our true reaction.

The PSA Approach:

  • “Dear Sir, Thank you for your unsolicited submission. Unfortunately, your penis did not meet our basic quality control standards.”

  • “For a small fee, I can provide a detailed report on why your dick failed to impress, including chapters like ‘How to Start a Conversation Without a Dick Pic’ and ‘Why Genitals Are Not an Acceptable Icebreaker."

The Taste of His Own Medicine:

I’m honestly surprised by the number of women who’ve actually sworn by this method. Google ‘weirdest penis ever’ and send him a reply pic with “Here, this one’s better looking.” Spam him with every grotesque dick pic you can find online until he blocks you.

And I stumbled upon somethin’ so mindblowing-

While girls all over the internet are being so savage, I loved this particular one who went one step beyond. Whitney Bell, an artist, took the unsolicited dick pic epidemic and flipped it on its head - by turning it into an art exhibit. Seriously, if men insist on sending them, why not put them on display for the world to see? I Didn’t Ask For This: A Lifetime of Dick Pics was a compilation of 150 blown-up images of real, unsolicited dick pics that were all sent to Bell and women she knew. And they weren’t just put up in a gallery; it was an immersive experience set in a space designed to feel like your best friend’s apartment - with cozy couches, floral lamps, and an energy that screams safe space.

The contrast was jarring: a room that felt like home, plastered with the invasive reality of cyberflashing. It forced visitors to sit with the discomfort women feel daily, to see - really see - how entitlement and harassment sneak into our most personal spaces. It wasn’t just about shock value; it was about reclaiming power, making a statement that these unwanted images don’t just disappear when we swipe away. They linger, they intrude, and they deserve to be called out.

And, what can you legally do?

India may not have a law that explicitly says, “Hey, stop airdropping your junk to unsuspecting strangers,” but that doesn’t mean cyber flashing gets a free pass. Legal action can still be taken under existing provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860, and the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000.

For starters, Section 509 of the IPC punishes words, gestures, or acts meant to insult a woman’s modesty - so yes, an unsolicited penis pic absolutely makes the cut. Then there’s Section 354A(iii), which criminalizes forcing someone to view pornography against their will, making it another solid legal recourse. Meanwhile, the IT Act, 2000 also comes through with Section 67, which penalizes transmitting obscene material online.

Another effective option is to report them on the platform - whether it’s a dating app / Instagram / Facebook.

So while India hasn’t yet carved out a law specifically for cyber flashing, the legal toolbox is stocked enough to take action.

At the end of the day, there’s only one acceptable context for sending a dick pic: when explicitly requested. Anything else? A fast track to getting blocked, roasted, or, if karma’s feeling extra spicy, even reported. So to all the cyber flashers out there - next time you’re about to hit send,… don’t you? Maybe, just maybe, try sending a personality instead?
