It’s the season to be spoonin’!
Cuffing season is here! As the temperature drops, our drive to cuddle and stay cozy soars - or at least that’s the story we are told based on data collected on people’s dating patterns in these months. As a result, a lot of us might find ourselves drawn to relationships, which may be short-lived (but not necessarily insignificant). In many parts of the Indian subcontinent, this is also a popular season for weddings! Romance is certainly in the air, along with the proverbial nip.
Bring out the woollens and your sexual fantasies out of the storage!
Many of us might also take a short vacation in the final weeks of the year, as we make merry for Christmas as well as to welcome in the new year. This might mean taking a flight or checking into a hotel - both of which are fertile grounds for bringing alive some of the most common sex fantasies that people have. Remember to arm yourself up with a lube to avoid chafing and to maybe, ahem, get into the mile high club with a quickie in the loo *wink wink*.
Cozy up and slather on the oils!
If you have been hearing about ‘winter vagina’ and how it goes into ‘drought mode’, then that has been widely debunked by sexual wellness experts and medical health-service providers alike. Since the vagina is deep inside your body, in your crotch to be specific, and the body regulates its own temperature, there is no reason for your vagina to suddenly dry up because it is cold out there. However, if you’re spending a lot of time around heaters, then they may be drying out your skin all over, including down there. Make sure to stay hydrated by drinking water and by applying moisturizers, balms and lotions as and when you feel like it.
And if you aren’t feelin’ it, that’s valid too.
At the same time, the holidays could also mean returning to our birth-family homes for many of us. We might run into our high school ex while running errands or be around extended family members more than we would normally like to. Despite your best efforts to set boundaries, you might be hearing a lot of off-the-cuff remarks about your body, skin, age, and everything else that desi families will not stop remarking about. Take a deep breath and know that we see you. It’s fine if you feel like your drive to have sex is lower this season as a result of your self-esteem taking a hit or if you just feel the need to take naps oftener. 2021 has been a rollercoaster of a year, and with Omicron looming, your anxieties about your health and the health of your loved ones might be on the rise. So ground yourself and resist the peer pressure to attend parties and make merry if that is not what you want. Pamper yourself to a warm bath, soak your feet in Epsom salt, rub a little Bush Oil on your pubic hair and under your armpit, and roll the Sassy Soothing Stick on irritant joints or that lil’ crick in your neck.
